After a one-month delay, Madden 22 will receive the promised upgrade. On October 12, EA Sports announced that the latest title update, Madden 22, was launched, including the highly anticipated franchise mode upgrade promoted by Electronic Arts last summer.

A particular glitch affected some users' save files and caused them to automatically lose the game, even though the initial result might be a victory. EA Sports seems to have resolved other issues as part of the first major post-release update of the title. A major update to the franchise mode was launched earlier this year as a response to the #FixMaddenFranchise movement triggered on social media in 2020. Although there have been some adjustments to franchising in Madden 21, most of them are minor. This year, EA promised to implement a large number of new feature modes, and most of the additions are related to this update. These changes include the ability to hire, fire, and allocate regional and national scouts, as well as the addition of a new system to reveal the attributes and potential of the NFL's prospects. In addition, depending on the player's performance in the NCAA, some prospects will rise or fall in the rankings every year.

The latest update also includes some non-franchise upgrades, including new player portrait scans, and the addition of The Yard: Ranked. EA has now implemented an online ranking mode for The Yard, because players can now obtain player items, Creds and MUT packages by completing in-game objectives, as well as level points. According to EA, level points will be used to place players on The Yard's online leaderboard.
